When you travel, you usually are able to appreciate your host city or town more when you understand its historical background. That statement could not be any more true for Port Aransas, Texas. A tropical community in South Texas, Port Aransas is a premier vacation destination. Stay with Port A Escapes and we will help to ensure you have a safe, stress-free vacation this year. Let’s talk about the joys of spending your day at the Port Aransas Museum:
Port Aransas Museum
Dedicated to preserving the history of our former fishing town, the museum is run by the Port Aransas Preservation and Historical Association (PAPHA) and created in a joint effort with the City of Port Aransas. The museum sits in a 1900s kit house, one of the state’s top 12 most endangered structures.
Inside the museum, visitors will find permanent exhibits, photos, and archived historical documents. It is located at 400 N. Alister at Brundrett and has limited hours of operation. It’s open every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 1 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free, but donations are always welcome! You will have fun looking at all the unique artifacts housed in the museum’s small structure. We hope your trip to the museum will increase your love of our city. You can also enjoy a guided tour of the Chapel on the Dunes by a trained docent.
